A meeting on ‘Joint Parcel Product’ was held by Indian Railways & India Post at Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Coimbatore today – 29.11.2022.Shri G.V.L. Satya Kumar, Executive Director/Strategic Planning & Implementation, Railway Board, Ms. Sumitha Ayodhya, Post Master General/Western Region, Tamil Nadu, Shri R. Murugaraj, Chief Commercial Manager/Freight Marketing, Southern Railway and Shri E. Harikrishnan, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager/Salem Division participated in the meeting.The ‘Joint Parcel Product’ of India Post and the National Transporter Indian Railways is being developed with the intention of reducing time and cost in transportation of goods. Bringing down the cost of logistics will help the economic growth of the country.To provide end to end logistic service to parcel customers, Rail Post Gati Shakti Express Cargo Service will be introduced in Salem Division. This service will be beneficial for MSMEs, Industrialists and Traders.In this service, the first-mile connectivity and the last-mile connectivity will be provided by India Post and the intermediate connectivity from station to station will be done by Indian Railways. The ‘Joint Parcel Product’ aims to target the business-to-business and business-to-customer markets by offering a full parcel handling solution – picking up from the sender’s premises, booking and door-step delivery to the recipient.A meeting was organised today by India Post and Indian Railways at the Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Coimbatore to introduce this service to customers. A large number of industrialists, representatives of MSMEs, entrepreneurs and traders attended the meeting. As the scheme was introduced, the customers evinced keen interest and expressed their requirements. Officials of the Postal & Railway Departments assured them that the departments will provide economic and efficient door-to-door parcel services.
